My Story

Kate Graham PACT Registered

Licensed Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist

Hi, I am Kate Graham I am a Licensed Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist based in Kapiti Coast, Wellington. I provide a non-invasive holistic therapy to enhance the health and wellness of babies, children, individuals, and older individuals.

I was fascinated by the relationship people had with their bodies and how that influenced healing and health. I began to wonder how our life experiences impacted our sense of our body and the way our body responded to treatment. This led me to Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, a gentle hands-on holistic treatment. I completed my training with the “Body Intelligence” school in 2017.

I began teaching Pilates in 2002. Working alongside physiotherapists I gained experience working in injury rehabilitation, cancer rehabilitation, working in both the Pink and Steel Pilates programmes, general fitness and management of chronic conditions.

Since finishing my training I have completed postgraduate training in Mother
and Baby Resonance, Early Childhood Developmental Trauma, Body Relationships in Sickness and Health, Meridians in Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy, and Paediatric Applications of Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy.

I am registered with the Pacific Association of Craniosacral therapists.
In addition, my passion for motivating and empowering people to improve their health and understanding of their body led to becoming a Nordic Walking Instructor, training with the International Nordic Walking Association.

I work with people who have neurological conditions, joint replacements, injury rehabilitation, cancer, and those looking to improve their general fitness through the use of Nordic Walking poles.

As well as tending to my large garden, I practise and teach Ikebana.
The name Shusei is my Ikebana flower name gifted to me by the head
of the Sogetsu school of Ikebana. Shusei means to grow/excel.

I also learn Qigong with the Wild Goose Qigong school.

About Me Tree

“Just below your skin,
you are a branching being, made of rhythms, currents and rivers.”

My Approach

I am a gardener and I relate to rhythms and cycles. We have rhythms inside of us rhythms outside us in nature, we have cycles and seasons.

An analogy I use is that we are like a tree moving through seasonal cycles.
A tree in autumn is preparing for winter, its leaves may have signs of damage/injury or poor growth due to the environmental conditions in the “growing” season.

As the tree prepares for winter and rest it begins to conserve energy, its leaves change colour as the temperature gets cooler and then fall from the tree.

In the winter season the tree uses its stored energy to expand its root
system into the earth, enhancing its connections with the underground world.
A strong root system provides access to nutrients and strength to withstand environmental extremes.

With the arrival of spring the tree blossoms, reaching into a new growth cycle. Fresh new leaves appear, the same colour, shape, form and position on the branch. They are the same but different, maybe more vibrant, broader, stronger.

In summer growth continues, the tree transforms sunlight into energy for growth. It grows in relationship to the environmental conditions.

My client comes to see me in any season. For instance in Autumn, maybe with a physical injury, stress, not sleeping, digestive issues, often they will come with some part that is sore but find that something else is contributing to how they feel, perhaps emotionally but always in relation to their environment and the nutrients available at that time.

Craniosacral sessions offer them a time to conserve and replenish energy, heal injury, re-prioritise, re-organise, and strengthen. Whilst in the safe environment with an empathetic observer…“Winter”.

In spring they re-emerge the same but different, resourced, energised. In summer they continue to grow in relationship to their environment which may promote growth, or not. They enter a new seasonal cycle. Cycles may be momentary or long, (Biodynamic) determined by the client, their nervous
system and their environment.

Each season or cycle can throw up challenges where craniosacral sessions can be helpful and support growth.
